JP Galvin Park is adjacent to Stuart Park (site of another Precinct Street and Park project) in Wollongong City Council. Council architects wanted the new shelters to reference some nearby existing heritage listed shelters made of basalt clad walls and columns.

The new shelters are a 7.0m x 7.0m customised version of Precinct’s Tilba shelter. Precinct Street and Park installed several new shelters along the shore, accommodating for the hundreds of people who visit the park on a daily basis. The shelters are built to last, boasting class 1 durability engineered timbers, 316 stainless fittings, aluminium roofing combined with Precinct’s unique structural brackets and connection methods.

Wollongong Council contracted Precinct Street and Park to deliver the entire project including demolition of the existing shelters and construction of the new slabs, stone clad plinths/walls, furniture, barbeques, shelters and associated earthworks. The job is one that we’re extremely happy with of and we’ve received a great response from members of the public!
